Michael (Mike) S. Schultz, 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2016, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Fort Sill Oklahoma, on May 11, 1953, the oldest of four boys, to George and Mary Schultz.
Mike married his high school sweetheart, Kathy, in 1975, and began their married life in Wyoming, where they had two sons.
Mike “Dagwood” as he was known to his friends and family, served as a professional pilot for 24 years with the United States Custom Service before retiring in 2010 in Montana as the Director of Operations of the Montana Air Branch.
In 2010, they relocated to their retirement home located in Sunlight Basin, Cody, Wyoming where he embraced his passion of the outdoors. Here he enjoyed his lifelong loves of fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, and cooking. During his retirement years his” bucket list” was fulfilled through their travels throughout the United States.
He sustained many friendships, where even in his last months, he shared his stories of adventures, reminisced about fond memories, and enjoyed hours of family fun.
Mike’s legacy is a devoted family who will miss him deeply. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his two sons, Jeff and Jason and their wives, Taryn and Macey; his six grandchildren Madison, Triston, Ayden, Piper, Landon, Christian; his father George; his stepmother Joan; his three brothers Marc, Matt, and Jon; and his many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located at 2725 S. Hwy. 17, Crescent City, Florida on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at the Schultz family home.
